Water spray system is used for controlled burning, extinguishment of fire and also to provide exposure protection. Water spray system extinguishes a fire by cooling, something emulsifying, diluting flammable liquids, or by combination of these factors. In spray system the detection or protection network are separate. Detection network uses glass bulb sprinkler and protection network uses open sprayers. both the system are fed through yard mains duly connected with a pair of sluice and deluge valve. The system as against localized water shower in case of sprinkler system.
There are two types of water spray system
• High velocity
• Medium velocity
High velocity water spray system basically works on the principle of emulsification something cooling and stream formation. Medium velocity water spray basically works on principle of cooling. Different operating pressure are recommended for both the systems. The hydraulic design based on the specified pressure available at remotest nozzles in installations.
